Listed below are questions that are frequently asked regarding the Tefakh sponsorship opportunity. We hope that this information will give you an idea of what Tefakh al Tefakh in the Holy Land, Ltd. is about. Please note that if a discrepancy between the information on this page and the certificate’s “terms and conditions” is found the certificate’s “terms and conditions” will apply.

Q: What is Tefakh al Tefakh in the Holy Land, Ltd.?

A: Tefakh al Tefakh in the Holy Land, Ltd. is a company that was formed for facilitating the sponsorship of redeeming certain properties in the Holy Land. Tefakh al Tefakh in the Holy Land, Ltd. is offering the opportunity to sponsor “tefakh” portions of land in an effort to finance the protection, preservation and development/restoration of ancient Biblical sites in cooperation with various Israeli government ministries and authorities (i.e. Israel Land Authority, Ministry of Tourism, National Park Authority and East Jerusalem Development) and private entities such as Moreshet Heritage Foundation, Israel.

Q: What is a Tefakh?

A: Biblically, ‘tefakh’ is the smallest scale of measurement for land and food. It was, however, not only a scale of measurement, it was also an ‘item’ - a support ledge made of stone, made like the ‘palm of the hand’, and the word for ‘palm of the hand’ in Hebrew is, ‘tefakh’. In English, we translate this as ‘handbreadth’.It corresponds to the width of a man’s hand across the palm or of a closed fist across the knuckles. The cubit (amah in Hebrew) in Biblical terms represents the distance from the fingertip to the elbow. When measuring area, the term “amah al amah” refers to a square cubit. By the same analogy, “tefakh al tefakh” refers to a square tefakh, or an area about the size of that covered by a closed fist. This small area represents a handbreadth, or handhold, if you will.

The word, ‘tefakh’ appears in the Bible only three times. It is always in connection with the smallest unit of measurement and always regarding the service of God.

Q: What is the purpose of a Tefakh sponsorship?

A: When you sponsor one or more Tefakhot (plural for tefakh) from Tefakh al Tefakh in the Holy Land, LTD., you will be the rightful sponsor and redeemer of a portion of an incredible property, the Shepherds’ Field in Bethlehem Efrata, Judah. Together with other tefakh sponsors you will guarantee the properties protection, preservation and development/restoration. The property will be developed with nothing more than walking paths and tasteful signage. No cathedrals, no great museums, no cheap commercialization – just a place central to the amazing stories of God and the fulfillment of God’s plan - as unfolded in the lineage of Jesus Christ.

Q: What is the Shepherds’ Field?

A: History clearly teaches us that the Shepherds’ Fields of Bethlehem are located just south and slightly to the east of Jerusalem. Many significant Biblical events have occurred at these very fields. It was here, in the Shepherds’ Fields of Bethlehem where Boaz first met Ruth, and became her Kinsman Redeemer, preparing a lineage for the eventual birth of King David, through whom God promised He would establish an everlasting King to sit upon the Throne. It was also in these Shepherds’ Fields that the sweet Psalmist of Israel was born, lived and experienced the life of a shepherd which allowed him to so beautifully compose the 23rd Psalm. At these Shepherds’ Fields in Bethlehem, David learned the lessons that God used to prepare him to one day rule Israel.

But it was also in this valley - many years later - a young newlywed couple named Joseph and Mary returned home to the City of David (that is Bethlehem), the homeland of their ancestral lineage, because a census had been decreed. The Bible tells us that this same Bethlehem -- where Boaz redeemed Ruth, and where David was born and raised – was where Jesus, the real Redeemer, King and Messiah would be born. Remember in the Book of Luke, Chapter 2 that the shepherds were at the Shepherds’ Field, watching their flocks by night. Suddenly, they heard and saw the angelic host, above those fields declaring “today, here, in the City of David a Savior has been born”. They were told to go and see that very baby - wrapped in swaddling cloth and lying in a manger.

Although the New Testament does not tell us exactly where in Bethlehem Jesus was born, the Old Testament does. Micah 4:8 states, “And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.” Thus the Old Testament clearly states that the Messiah would be born at the "tower of the flock" (called Migdal Edar) in the Shepherds’ Fields.

Q: What do I get with my sponsorship?

A: In addition to the awesome opportunity of participating in redeeming some of the most precious property in the Bible, you will receive a frameable personalized certificate representing a real parcel of land. The certificate will include the registered sponsor’s name, individual certificate serial number and date of sponsorship. This information will also be permanently inscribed in the company’s “Golden Book”. A mosaic stone will be permanently placed in one of the pathways or promenades commemorating your sponsorship. This mosaic stone will display your certificate’s individual serial number and insignia.

Q: How do I sponsor a Tefakh?

A: The most convenient way to sponsor a Tefakh is directly through this website’s secure e-store. You may also download the necessary order form and mail it in with the needed registration information and payment.

Q: Can I sponsor more than one Tefakh?

A: Absolutely! Many people are ordering not just for themselves but for their spouse, children, grandchildren and other family members as well. A Tefakh sponsorship certificate is an awesome way to commemorate the birth of Christ and makes one of the best Christmas gifts one can give. They are also great gifts for births, weddings, birthdays and special occasions.

Q: Can I sponsor a Tefakh “in the memory of”?

A: Definitely! Other sponsors have found this to be an awesome way of commemorating a loved one who has passed. All that is needed to accomplish this it to write “in memory of” and their name in the registration name area on the order form. The certificate will include this information in the registered sponsor’s name.

Q: Do I own the land?

A: The answer is “No”. While your sponsorship does represent a real piece of property, the property is required to remain in the company’s name for legal and cost effective reasons.

Q: Am I required to pay property taxes?

A: Great news, the answer is “No”. Since there are no individual property deeds, the company pays all property taxes for the entire property on behalf of all sponsors.

Q: Is the sponsorship tax deductible?

A: At this time sponsorships are not tax deductible.

Q: Is the Tefakh Certificate transferable/inheritable?

A: Yes! Your Tefakh Certificate can be handed down through your family or friends and can be transferred at any time. Your certificate’s terms and conditions will explain the procedure for re-registration.
